Lizzy Myers

Lizzy grew up in the coastal town of Tutukaka, near Whangarei in Northland, and is of Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Kura descent. She spent her high school years in rural Western Australia before moving to Perth where she studied marine science at the University of Western Australia and then at James Cook University in Townsville Queensland. Currently, Lizzy is halfway through her Ph.D. at Massey University where she uses baited video cameras and museum specimens to look at how the functions of fish change along a depth gradient. Her studies have seen her visit the Kermadec Islands, the Three Kings Islands, Great Barrier Island, White Island, Kaikoura, the Otago Penninsula, and the Sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands, ranging from depths between 50 m and 1200 m.
