I am presently involved in a number of national and international projects. In New Zealand, I am investigating the relationship between environmental flows and multiple stressor impacts, in addition to conducting the first detailed evaluation of the impact of the nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide (DCD) in aquatic ecosystems. In Germany, I am a partner in the GeneStream Project (http://genestream.de), examining the biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems by combining traditional and novel genomic methodological approaches in a multiple-stressor context. In Japan, with the Center for Ecological Research at Kyoto University and the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, I am investigating the genetic connectivity and nutrient-cycling of freshwater invertebrate species and biofilms along a longitudinal gradient in multiply stressed streams.
