Roseanne Liang is a leading light for modern Kiwi feature films and the filmmaking industry in New Zealand. Achieving international success with her documentary Banana in a Nutshell and film My Wedding and Other Secrets, Roseanne knows what it takes to inspire a team of people to turn a creative idea into a highly esteemed work.
Roseanne has been recognised both locally and globally winning numerous festival awards. In 2011, My Wedding and Other Secrets won best screenplay for a feature film at the Aoteroa Film & Television Awards and Audience Choice Awards at two New York film festivals.
Her role as director has also been acknowledged, winning Roseanne the Best Director Award at the Asia NZ Film Festival and SPADA’s New Filmmaker of the Year Award. Her creative talents have also shone through in the writing and directing of a TV3 sketch comedy series A Thousand Apologies.
Roseanne embraces her cross-cultural heritage in all work that she does. As an intuitive story teller, Roseanne has woven personal journey and experience with fiction to create films that resonate across cultural boundaries in New Zealand, leaving audiences with fresh perspective and insight.
Roseanne shares her passion for the industry encouraging other New Zealanders who want to get into filmmaking. She speaks and acts on panels at various events including guest lectures at tertiary institutions.
