Lara Teodorescu
Lara Teodorescu is currently a year 13 student at Macleans College in Auckland. In 2022, she attended BLAKE Inspire for Sailors as an aspiring environmental activist with passions for sustainability and marine conservation. Since the program, Lara has been heavily involved in her yacht club’s sustainability journey – uniting club members in local beach clean ups and audits, as well as advocating to install solar panels.
Lara is the leader of her school’s Kaitiaki Enviro Group, a member of the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club sustainability sub-committee, and a stage 1 student in the Hyundai Pinnacle Program.
Lara is currently completing her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, and was the spokesperson for New Zealand in the Duke of Edinburgh’s ‘A Global Celebration Event’ which featured on BBC UK. During the event she presented her journey completing the Silver Kākāriki award – which involved clearing over 100 L of rubbish from her local beaches, becoming the student volunteer coordinator for her local reserve, and completing DOC courses on biodiversity and pest control.
She is aiming to study architecture at university next year – using her experiences and knowledge gained from BLAKE Inspire and her upcoming BLAKE Expedition to fuel her passions for eco-conscious design and innovation.
