James Souter

James is a Teacher at Te  Waka Unau school in Christchurch. In 2022, James joined the BLAKE Inspire for Teachers programme. James is passionate about environmental education, including how to offer students meaningful experiential learning opportunities through a localised placed based curriculum. Since his exposure to BLAKE, James has sort to enhance and develop opportunities that will tap into students’ sense of adventure to ignite deeper connections and learning in environmental education for his students.

James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Master of Social Work as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching. This learning forms the basis of his passion for supporting students to make and maintain positive and meaningful connections with each other, the wider community and the environment in which they live.
