Helena Sanderson

Helena Sanderson is a first year student at AUT studying a Bachelor of Science in environmental sciences. As a sailor who spends more days on the water than off, she has a strong connection and deep appreciation for the ocean. Helena first participated in BLAKE’s environmental leadership programmes in April 2021 when she attended BLAKE Inspire. Following this experience she co-lead the designing and writing of an environmental education module for the Learn to Sail programmes nationwide. This programme aims to educate and empower the next generation of sailors around the issues our marine environment is facing and the part they can play to help. BLAKE Expeditions will be Helena’s first time visiting the Sub-Antarctic islands and experiencing the adventure that is the Southern Ocean.
