Hayden Walsh
Hayden is a learning advisor at Hobsonville Point Primary School, working primary with Year 6-8 students. He has been teaching for 8 years through a range of year levels from New Entrants to Year 8’s.
Growing up in and around the Waitakere Ranges, Hayden has always been passionate about caring for the environment, particularly involving our forests and native wildlife. He has recently becoming interested in the complexities and intricacies of the interdependence of humans and marine ecosystems. Because of this, he has started, or been involved in, sustainability programmes at each school he has been at. He has supported students in environmental and community projects such as Treemendous, tree planting events to support the School Strike for Climate, the Wastewise programme and working with Enviroschools to deliver a range of environmental educational experiences to students. Hayden has completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education with a focus on sustainability in education and is planning to complete a Masters degree around sustainability issues in education.
Hayden lives in back in the Waitakere Ranges after a spending three years in the Wairarapa and enjoys sharing the love and inspiration of nature with his two children.
