Blake Tara Ambassador
The 16-day voyage onboard the legendary schooner Tara, will travel from Panama to New York and be led by the Tara Expeditions Foundation. Two Blake Ambassadors will work alongside scientists and conduct open ocean surface biodiversity research. This work includes sampling water and plankton for genomics and taxonomy, physico-chemical conditions and day/night migration. Size fractionated filtering for genomic studies of the viro-, pico-, nano-, micro- and mesoplankton fractions will be recorded in the dry lab onboard. Ongoing measurements will be conducted during the voyage using autonomous sensors, imaging, water and aerosol sampling. In New York, the Ambassadors will work with the United Nations, schools and public visitors to raise awareness of environmental issues concerning the ocean.
You will need a valid passport to travel to America and apply for an ESTA.
