Nicolas Shand

Nic is a teacher and syndicate leader at Wainui Beach School in Gisborne. He teaches a Year 3-4 class and particularly enjoys focusing on educating and inspiring students using the surrounding environment. He has co-led the Enviroschools Programme at Wainui Beach School driving a number of initiatives and he also attended the BLAKE Inspire for Teachers programme in 2019.

Nic completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching in Wellington and also studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Geography at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. He lives at Wainui Beach with his wife and two children and enjoys participating in a range of different sports including surfing, diving, tennis and mountain biking. Nic is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of the expedition to the Kermadec Islands.
