BLAKE Inspire 2021
In April 2021, BLAKE Inspire brought together 34 young environmental leaders from all over New Zealand for a week of adventure-based, experiential learning and leadership development in the Waikato.
Students spent the week learning about topical environmental issues facing our country with a focus on climate change/Huringa āhurangi, Marine/Moana, Biodiversity/Rerenga rauropi and Freshwater/Wai Māori.
Assisted by environmental and business leaders, scientists and experts in the field, students developed their own individual action plans to implement in their schools and communities.
Unfortunately, the ongoing lockdown as a result of COVID-19 in the community caused the cancellation of BLAKE Inspire’s second programme schedule for October 2021. These students have been invited to their pick of a 2022 BLAKE Inspire programme.
“BLAKE Inspire opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of environmental work. In fact, BLAKE Inspire truly inspired me to make more change in my own community. The organisers of BLAKE Inspire also did an outstanding job. Every aspect was well-planned and I felt extremely privileged to attend this programme. Thank you!”
– BLAKE Inspire 2021 delegate.
