Māhina Melbourne
Māhina is a descendant from Tūhoe, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Porou. Māhina lives in Porirua, Wellington with her husband Fred and two daughters Amokura and Logan. Outside of work Māhina loves to be out of the house – walking her dog, weight lifting, in the garden or travelling with her extended family exploring Aotearoa.
Māhina is currently Group Manager, Te Tuarongo, Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education and is on the Board in an ex officio capacity for Iona Holstead Secretary for Education.
She has worked for Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga for nearly 20 years in roles that included advancing understanding of racial equity and treaty responsibilities, managing multi-dimensional strategic projects and building teams and capability.
Her approach is that of optimism, creativity and courage to harness collective energy. She creates innovative solutions to realise the inherent potential of every child, whānau and collective.
