As we conclude our exploration of the BLAKE’s 2024 Impact Report, it’s clear that BLAKE’s impact is fuelled by the strength of its partnerships. With the support of our valued partners, sponsors and supporters, we remain committed to expanding the reach of our programmes and pursue our mission to inspire and prepare people to lead a sustainable future for Aotearoa.

The Power of Partnerships

BLAKE’s success over the past two decades would not be possible without the invaluable support of its partners. Collaborations with the New Zealand government, Westpac, and other key organizations have been instrumental in expanding BLAKE’s reach and resources. These partnerships provide essential funding, expertise, and logistical support, enabling BLAKE to deliver its educational programmes and conservation initiatives at scale.

The BLAKE Ambassadors programme is a standout example of how BLAKE’s mission thrives on collaboration. This programme, which places young environmental leaders on the frontlines of conservation and research, relies heavily on partnerships with organizations such as the Department of Conservation (DOC), GNS, NIWA, and Antarctica New Zealand. These partnerships provide crucial access to projects, expert mentorship, and funding that allow ambassadors to work alongside leading scientists and conservationists. Through these collaborations, ambassadors gain hands-on experience in critical environmental initiatives, from biodiversity monitoring to climate research in some of the world’s most remote and fragile ecosystems. The partnerships also ensure that these young leaders can directly contribute to meaningful work, bridging the gap between education and action.

Another key partnership supporting BLAKE’s environmental education efforts is with New Zealand Geographic, which plays a vital role in the NZ-VR programme. NZ Geographic provides immersive 360° footage of New Zealand’s diverse marine and terrestrial environments, giving students an unprecedented virtual experience of these ecosystems. Their contribution enhances NZ-VR by combining stunning visual storytelling with educational content that helps young people connect to and care for the environment. This partnership bridges the gap between nature and technology, bringing the beauty and importance of conservation to life for students across Aotearoa.

Without the support of partners, BLAKE would not be able to offer such transformative opportunities. These collaborations are more than logistical; they are an integral part of cultivating the next generation of environmental champions who are prepared to tackle the challenges facing our planet.

Looking Ahead: A United Front for the Future

As BLAKE looks to the future, it remains committed to building on these powerful partnerships and leveraging these to expand all our programmes to have a greater impact on Aotearoa. Our work is more than just environmental education and leadership; it’s about cultivating a united front where communities, businesses, governments, and individuals work together as kaitiaki o te taiao. As we celebrate 20 years of inspiring environmental leadership, BLAKE continues to pave the way for a future where every generation is empowered to protect the natural world.
